Skype / Online Lessons: $45/hr.

There are now great digital tools to save money and reduce stress from having to commute to take music lessons. While it’s not the same as taking lessons in person, I can assure you that if I can see your hands playing your instrument and you can see mine we’re in business! Skype / Online Video chat lessons are a great cost-effective alternative and you get all the same information I offer in my home studio. There may be some delay in being able to play music over the web in sync with one another, but this type of music instruction is becoming more and more popular even in Washington State. Check out this article in the New York Times.

Private Lessons: $60/hr.

Private lessons are a great option for young or old students that are just starting out. Sometimes it helps to really have the teacher there in person to watch the hand placement on the instrument and make little adjustments when needed. Also – some people just like the real face-to-face experience of taking lessons. I’m happy to offer private lessons to anyone who can make it to my home studio in Ballard (just 10 minutes from I-5 and downtown Seattle). I have multiple keyboards, guitars and other fun instruments that are all available to use at my studio.

Groups Lessons: $20/hr. per each musician

Looking to start a band or need some help getting your band to really glue together? Group lessons at my home studio are a great for those who want some space to stretch out and have a teacher there. I’ve worked with music groups in High Schools, Colleges and outside school as well. I’ve also been adjudicator at Battle of the Bands contests in the region as well as been an instructor at other clinics and workshops in the area as well.

Transcriptions: $30/hr.

I will turn a handwritten chart, recording, YouTube, etc. into clean and flexible digital sheet music. The charts are very well formatted, legible and they will vastly improve your music books for gigging, rehearsals, recording and much more. I also can also show how to use Finale and various techniques to making nice working charts for reading and professional musicians. Lyric sheets are also a nice option for gigs and I’m willing to do these kinds of charts for a reduced rate.

Recordings: $50/hr.

Looking to record a demo or little EP of your music? Well, I have the tools at my home studio to record you live and also multi-track record you with professional grade equipment. I currently use a digital audio program (comparable to Pro Tools) called Digital Perform 6.0. I also have a Mackie Mixer, several great vocal and instrument mics, mic stands and a FireWire Audio Box to capture up to 2 instruments simultaneously. This setup isn’t ideal for recording a drum-set or large band all at the same time, but it’s perfect for solo musicians and bands that don’t mind multi-track recording.
